United States Railroad Administration 1919 booklet 1/2
These two pages are from a booklet on Crater lake. What's interesting here is that the booklet is part of a series published by the United States railroad administration in 1919. The series included not only Crater Lake National Park, but also parks like Zion, Yellowstone, Mt. Rainier, Glacier, Yosemite and others. Each booklet numbered about 20 pages or so and has a similar style to the Northern Pacific Railroad book on Yellowstone National Park. On the right side of the page you can see that in addition to painting there are also photographs and diagrams. Notice the message from the Secretary of the Interior in the top left of the image. It's a powerful piece for the reader because the Secretary is addressing them about the wilderness as if this amazing park is protected just for their enjoyment.
